Using the accommodation database

Use this section to find information about the different accommodation options in the Islands. 

Establishments are listed in alphabetical order in sections - Stanley first, followed by East Falkland, West Falkland and the Outer Islands.

Click on Search Options to narrow down your search.  You can choose to sort accommodation by location, type, board and facilities by clicking on your choices.  Click a second time to de-select. Click on an accommodation picture to find out more about rooms and rates.

Type

• Hotel - Private rooms, general relaxation areas and dining area.  Reception services provided during the daytime.
• Homestay – Usually a traditional Falkland home in which the owners or managers take paying guests in private room with other guests often seated around the same table.
• Motel - En-suite private rooms, each with an individual entrance from a car parking area.  
• Lodge - Purpose-built accommodation or converted farm manager’s house run in a similar manner to a hotel.  Meals often taken at tables shared with other guests.  Most have an "honesty bar" system.
• Hostel - Accommodation designed for multiple occupancy i.e. separate rooms with shared facilities and communal eating arrangements.
• Settlement House - Self catering accommodation with bedding, towels and household equipment provided.  In most cases the house is rented in its entirety but sometimes the house may be shared with other guests.  Check on booking. 
• Remote House - Self catering accommodation with basic amenities provided.  Guests will need a degree of self-sufficiency and to be able to operate a peat-burning stove for heating/cooking and possibly a diesel generator to obtain electrical power.  Check on booking what facilities are provided.

Board

• Self Catering – No meals provided. A fully equipped kitchen or kitchen area is available for guests to prepare their own food.  Note:   Always check hours of settlement shops before you travel.  In most cases it is advisable to take all food and provisions from Stanley to a self catering establishment.
• Full Board – all meals are included in the cost.
• Half Board – breakfast and dinner are included in the cost.
• B&B – "Bed and Breakfast" – only breakfast is included in the cost.
