Located at the head of the Public Jetty, the Jetty Visitor Centre should be the first stop for anyone visiting the Falklands, no matter how long or short their stay. The friendly local staff will answer any questions you may have about the Islands.
Wall displays show comprehensive information of likely interest to the visitor, including details of tour operators and accommodation in the Islands. Visitors can collect a personal copy of the "Falkland Islands Visitor Guide" which has a street map of Stanley with details of shops, restaurants and other services.
Aspects of Falkland Islands life, history and natural history are are also on display along with information about Falklands Conservation and examples of local crafts. Temporary exhibitions of photography and artwork are arranged from time to time.
The Jetty Visitor Centre has a shop selling a range of locally crafted souvenirs, stamped post cards and items of clothing. Internet facilities are available at the rear of the building. Toilets, including for the disabled, are also located inside.
Immediately outside the Centre are telephones (cards can be purchased inside) and a sheltered area with seating overlooking the harbour. This last feature will be of particular benefit to foot-weary visitors waiting for tenders back to their cruise ship, after what we hope will have been an enjoyable and well-informed visit to our picturesque town.
