Weddings

The remote and somewhat exotic nature of the Falkland Islands makes them a memorable location for weddings and honeymoons. The Islands offer unspoilt natural scenery and a distinctive setting for the most special of days.

Couples can choose outdoor locations with backdrops of brilliant white sand beaches, wildlife colonies, or a historic monument or building. Gypsy Cove, Cape Pembroke Lighthouse, Darwin corral and Volunteer Point are attractive places chosen by Island residents.

Indoor weddings can be conducted in one of Stanley's churches and in some hotels, restaurants and bars.

Outside Stanley possibilities include a combination of indoor and outdoor locations. Contact accommodation providers to find out more about what can be offered. Darwin also has a beautiful stone building named the "Galpon" in which receptions can be arranged, often in combination with a ceremony in the corral. Those wishing to get married in the Falkland Islands should contact the Registrar General in the first instance to check if preferred dates are available, and what paperwork is required for their nationality: Email: jrowland@townhall.gov.fk, tel +500 27272.
