Amateur

Whether photography is your passion outside of work, a hobby or just something you take up whilst on travels or holidays the amateur group is for you!

Top prize:

Category winners:

Each category will award a prize to a shot that really stands out within the category.

Amateurs may enter a maximum of 3 shots per category (18 shots in total) or a minimum of a single shot in any category. Entrants can enter a combination of shots in total ie two shots in Wildlife, one shot in Active/Outdoors and three shots in Island Life if they chose to.

However, if you would like to pitch your shots against professionals please enter the professional portfolio group.

Please note: Once you have submitted shots to a group, you may not enter another group.

Youth (under 18s):

For budding photographers or young people who enjoy capturing unusual places like the Falkland Islands there is a youth group for those aged 18 and under.

  • The youth category is open to those people aged 18 years or under – for more information please read full terms. Eligible entrants to the youth category may chose to enter the amateur or professional groups instead of the youth group.

    Professional:

    The professional category is an opportunity to showcase a portfolio of shots rather than a single photograph. A portfolio should consist of six shots, one in each category. The winning portfolio holder will win £300 worth of Jessops vouchers, a year's subscription to Outdoor Photography and Footprint's guide to Travel Photography by Steve Davey.

    A professional photographer is deemed to be someone who earns a significant portion or all of their living through photography. A professional cannot enter the amateur or youth groups.
