Islander Profile - Kevin Kilmartin

Kevin Kilmartin came to the Falkland Islands in 1976 after back-packing across the Americas. He worked as a shepherd on West Falkland and as the postmaster on South Georgia and for Antarctica. In 1980 he bought Bluff Cove Farm. It is 35,000 acres and stretches from the south coast to the far side of the Wickham Heights, the backbone of East Falkland. Kevin farms 3,000 Perendale sheep and 150 Belted Galloway cattle as well as running a legal practice in Stanley. He has served as a Member of Legislative Council. In 2002, as a farm diversification, Kevin started a penguin tour for visiting cruise ship passengers. The Bluff Cove Lagoon Tour has just won an international award for best shore excursion of the year 2009”.
