Islander Profile - Sally Ellis

Sally was born and lives in Stanley but her heart is at Port Stephens on West Falkland where she grew up on her parents’ farm, and where she returns as often as possible with her young family. Sally has worked in tourism for longer than she cares to remember – originally at Falkland Islands Tourism (the predecessor to the Tourist Board) and now running the Inbound Department of International Tours & Travel Ltd. marketing and selling the Falkland Islands. She is also a Director of the Falkland Islands Tourist Board and a member of the National Tourism Strategy Working Group.

Sally said: “I love the pace of life in the Falklands and the security (it has to be the best place to bring up a young family).”

When not selling the Falklands Sally loves running, hashing and netball, socialising and getting out and about around the Falklands and there are still several places on her “To See” list!”

On nice days in the Falklands Sally said she is sometimes in awe of how beautiful the scenery is: “From rolling grass plains contrasted against cloudless clear blue skies, to secluded coves with dazzling white beaches and turquoise water which could almost fool you into thinking you were in the Caribbean … until you dip your toe in the water. It always strengthens my resolve to continue selling the Falklands as I can’t imagine anyone going away without the same passionate opinion … and that’s before you throw in the amazing variety and accessibility of the wildlife we have to offer.”
