There are over 30 accommodation providers located across the Falklands, ranging from self-catering cottages, guest houses and B&B's, to full-board lodges and hotels. Please refer to the FITB Accommodation Guide for details on each establishment.
Types of property include:
Homestay: Usually a traditional Falkland home in which the
owners or managers take paying guests in private rooms and
offer a lounge for relaxation. If meals are provided they will be
taken in a family-style kitchen or dining room with other guests
often seated around the same table.
Hostel: Accommodation designed for multiple occupancy i.e.
separate rooms with shared facilities and communal eating
arrangements. (Only in Stanley)
Hotel: Private rooms, general relaxation areas and dining area.
Reception services provided during the daytime. (Only in Stanley)
Lodge: Purpose-built accommodation or converted farm
manager’s house run in a similar manner to a hotel. Meals
often taken at tables shared with other guests. Most have an
“honesty bar” system.
Motel: En-suite private rooms, each with an individual entrance
from a car parking area. (Only in Stanley)
Remote House: Self catering accommodation with basic
amenities provided. Guests will need a degree of self-sufficiency
and to be able to operate a peat-burning stove for heating/
cooking and possibly a diesel generator to obtain electrical
power.
Settlement House: Self catering accommodation with
bedding, towels and household equipment provided. In most
cases the house is rented in its entirety but sometimes the
house may be shared with other guests.
