Three nights self catering - suitable for a family or small group
Highlights: culture and heritage (early settlers, 1982 memorials, shipwrecks); wildlife; scenic coastline; outdoor activities (hiking, fishing)
Day one (suggested accommodation - North Arm self catering cottage):
Load up the vehicle - don't forget the family – and drive to North Arm (approx 2 and half hours). Take a break at the Galley Cafe at Goose Green en route. Settle in with time for a quick exploration of the settlement.
Day two (suggested accommodation - North Arm self catering cottage):
Drive off road to scenic Bull Point (approx 2 hours). There is much to explore in the area - Bull Point has a fantastic white sand beach, a variety of flora and fauna and some interesting houses and shipwrecks en route.
Day three (suggested accommodation - North Arm self catering cottage):
Chill out with a bit of mullet fishing in the settlement creeks or explore the surroundings on foot. Lafonia is very flat so ideal for the less-enthusiastic walker!
Day four:
Round off your long weekend with smoko or lunch at Darwin House on your way home. Take a look at the stone corral in the settlement and visit the Argentine Cemetery (1982 memorial) too.
Variations:
For the adventurous, the outside houses at North West Arm and Fanny Cove are alternative stop-overs for nights two and three.
