Sightings of seven of the nine species of Albatross found in the Southern Ocean have been recorded in the Falkland Islands, although only the Black-Browed Albatross breeds on the Islands. These majestic birds have a wing span of approximately 2.45 metres.

Birds return to their nests each year and lay their single egg in early October. The Falklands are host to more than 65% of the world’s population which often like to cohabit with rockhopper penguins in elevated areas where the updrafts are useful for flying in and out.
