Kidney Island Kidney Island is reached by a boat journey from Stanley and requires a local guide for those who wish to land. Most of the island is covered in dense, high tussac and is rodent-free making it a haven for small birds including the endemic Cobb's wren as well as rockhopper penguins. Evening cruises to observe the sooty shearwaters also offer fantastic wildlife viewing opportunities.
Contact the Environmental Planning Department (+500 28480) - a permit is essential to land on the island and local operators for details of boat/launch hire.
Travelling time from Stanley approx 30 minutes.
