Port San Carlos Port San Carlos settlement is located in the north-west and is the junction of two farms, Racepoint and Smylies. The dramatic Picos mountains, stunning beaches, spectacular coastlines with rockhopper penguin colonies and the chance to collect Falklands pebbles (a unique semi-precious agate) are all within walking distance for the enthusiast or tours can be arranged. A return hike to Fanning Head will involve approximately 6 hours of moderate walking. Paloma Beach is a beautiful stretch of white sand around 1 mile in length with a variety of wildlife including a few king penguins.
