There could not be a better time to visit the Falklands than 2019!  No matter when you visit, you’ll find something new, exciting and different from anywhere else you’ve visited before.  Come and sample the pure clean air of the South Atlantic and experience life as you’ve never seen it before!

1. Helicopter!

Falklands Helicopter Services are starting operations in 2019 (subject to being issued their Air Operator’s Certificate), giving visitors the chance to see the islands from above and fly to places that take hours to reach overland.  You’ll be able to access the fantastic King Penguin colony at Volunteer Point with just a 20-minute flight from Stanley.

2. Join the Mid-Winter Swim

Perhaps the maddest, but most memorable swim you will ever have!  On the nearest Saturday to mid-winter (21st June) hundreds of locals and visitors make a dash for the water, and most dash straight out again after a quick dip, but it’s an experience you’ll never forget.  Come and enjoy the fun on the beach!

3. Take a Trip down to South Georgia

The Falklands is the perfect departure point for a trip down to South Georgia.  Experience the vast penguin rookeries and seal colonies, see the remains of what was a huge whaling industry, the high mountains, stunning glaciers, museum and the post office.  Cruises and expedition yachts leave from Stanley between October and March.

4. Stanley Sports

They’re off - Stanley thunders to the sound of hooves with the annual Boxing Day race meeting providing fun and entertainment for all the family.  A Christmas tradition, the horse race has been held in Stanley for over a century. Expect to see top class locally and internationally bred horses battling it out as well as side events including traditional gymkhanas.

5. Run the Stanley Marathon

Run the world’s southern-most Marathon (provisional date: 17th March 2019) through the streets and surroundings of Stanley.  Gradients, wind, and the threat of bad weather make this one of the world’s toughest Marathon courses.  However the rewards are many – fresh clean air, beautiful surroundings, and a friendly welcome!
