Furious Fifties
This wonderful book charting a full 24 hours in the Falklands, captured in photographic glory by the renowned French photographer Stanley Leroux, a regular visitor to the Falklands.
Read what it says on the back of the book:
"From the darkest hours of the night until dusk of the following day, through his images and words, Stanley narrates the story of one day in the Falkland Islands, through calm and storm, from daylight to darkness. Even when a storm rages, his vision of this wild archipelago, isolated from the rest of the world, remains delicate and poetic. The importance he attaches to the landscape and to its moods, whether magical or desolate, plunges us into a unique world. These are the latitudes of the Furious Fifties, a hostile land where the elements reign supreme and nature remains intact and defiant. Once upon a time, a day unfolded in the seas of the far south, on subantarctic islands of dreams, there at the edge of the world."
