Opened in 1996, the San Carlos Museum is part of the Falkland Islands Museum and National Trust. British troops were landed at San Carlos in 1982. Located to the south side of the road in the centre of the settlement, the museum is housed in a simple ex-military cabin but has many items of interest inside. The main displays chart the events of the 1982 war and its impact at San Carlos including memorabilia collected at the time. Other exhibits show aspects of agricultural history and the area’s natural history from the perspective of young conservation volunteers.
