Stanley on Foot

About

Stanley on Foot offers small-group guided walking tours and visitor services in Stanley, operated by Camila Walton FCM Community & Services. Every tour is led on foot from the Public Jetty, in English or Spanish, in groups of two to twelve people. The season runs from October to April, and tours are timed around ship movements with a buffer built in for the weather.

Five routes are offered:

STANLEY HERITAGE WALK - 2 hours, 2.5 km -The introduction to the city: the painted roofs, Christ Church Cathedral and the Whalebone Arch, Victory Green and the mizzen mast, Jubilee Villas, Government House and the Liberation Monument.

WALK & SMOKO: A TASTE OF THE ISLANDS - 3 hours, 2 km -A walk through the centre paired with the Islands' mid-morning ritual of tea, cake and a sit down: Falklands lamb, diddle-dee jam, teaberry and produce grown here. Food is ordered and paid for at the cafe.

THE PUB WALKABOUT - 3 hours, 2.4 km -Evenings, 18+. Five bars in one evening, finishing at Falkland Beerworks, the only brewery in the Islands producing its own beer. Drinks are bought at the bar and are not part of the fee. The Globe Tavern joins the route when it reopens.

MUSEUM & THE WRECKS OF STANLEY HARBOUR - 2 hours, 1.8 km - The harbour front and the hulks still standing in the water, including the Jhelum, followed by an hour inside the Historic Dockyard Museum. The museum is normally self-guided; on this tour visitors are accompanied throughout and walked through the collection. Cruise passengers enter free of charge.

1982: STANLEY DURING THE CONFLICT - 2.5 hours, 3 km - A factual, respectful walk through what happened in and around the city in 1982 and how it is remembered here now: the memorials, the buildings that were occupied, Stanley Cemetery and the 1982 Memorial Wood.

Two further services are offered alongside the tours. VISITOR ASSISTANCE provides practical help ashore: the pharmacy with translation, shopping errands, finding somewhere to eat and securing a table, directions, wifi and the post office. The WELCOME PACK is a box of Falkland Islands products - diddle-dee jam, something in Falklands wool, local tea and sweets, postcards, stamps and a map of the city.

Routes are mostly flat and can be shortened or adapted for visitors with limited mobility on request. Private groups, ship excursion desks and travel agents are welcome. There is no fixed public calendar: each enquiry is checked individually against the ship schedule, and bookings are confirmed by email or WhatsApp, normally within 24 hours.

Camila Walton lives in Stanley, runs a freight and services business in the Islands, and has worked seasons outdoors on the coast as a wildlife site warden. All tours are led personally, in English or Spanish, switching between the two for mixed groups.
