Island Inspiration

  1. Northern Section
    The Northern Section of West Falkland is great for walking and enjoying panoramic views of its extensive coastline, idyllic inlets and sheltered bays. Accessible by ferry and FIGAS, Port Howard is a good starting point to explore.
  2. Southern Section
    Hilly landscape and rocky cliffs characterised the Southern Section of West Falklands, and the settlements of Fox Bay, Port Edgar and Port Stephens have a good range of visitor accommodation. Great for hiking, whether short, easy strolls or longer, more challenging hikes for fantastic views.
  3. Coast Ridge Cottage_Fox Bay East _Falkland Islands
    Coast Ridge Cottage is located in the Fox Bay Settlement on West Falkland and offers a double and twin room and a fully equipped kitchen with an open plan living and dining area. This comfortable house also has a large garden which is sheltered from winds and safe for kids. It's only three minutes from the club and store.

  4. Located in the southwest of West Falkland, tucked into a tiny corner of a large, open harbour, Port Stephens offers fantastic wildlife and walking opportunities. You can see all 5 species of penguins here, including macaroni, with the gentoos, kings, rockhoppers and Magellanic all breeding at Wood Cove and Stephens Peak along with many other species of birds. Marine mammals are frequently seen. “Indian Village” is a series of unusual rock formations which characterise a section of the farmland.

  5. Post Office Museum_Fox Bay_West Falklands
    A museum that displays the history of the Post Office at Fox Bay. Displays include a counter with postal artefacts, old wooden mail boxes and mail bags, the old Post Office safe, and other historical items dating back to 1899.
  6. Port Howard Lodge_Port Howard_Falkland Islands
    Port Howard Lodge has a number of well-furnished bedrooms and is ideally located to experience traditional ‘camp’ life in the Falklands.

  7. Situated at Hawk’s Nest Pond on West Falkland, the Lyn Blake Nature Reserve was formally opened by Falklands Conservation in 2013. A beautiful wetland area, it is home to many wading birds and offers a pleasant walk over easy ground. Self-catering accommodation is available at Fox Bay.

  8. Opened in 1996, the Port Howard Museum is part of the Falkland Islands Museum and National Trust. Situated alongside Port Howard Lodge in the centre of the settlement, the distinctive semi-circular Nissan Hut houses a collection of 1982 war memorabilia including ejector seats, a large parachute, Argentine artefacts and various weapons.
