About

Named after the ship, the Volunteer, Volunteer Point is part of Johnson’s Harbour Farm and located in the northeast of East Falkland. Accessible by road and then overland vehicle journey. The peninsula boasts a stunning, long, white sand beach and is home to a variety of birdlife. It is a privately owned Nature Reserve and an Important Bird Area. The largest breeding group of king penguins in the islands is found here. A cacophony of sounds greets visitors on arrival, from the king, Gentoo and Magellanic colonies.

At all times permission must be given beforehand by phoning +500 32000 or emailing drp@horizon.co.fk  Do not continue if you have not received permission. It is also important to note that the road between Johnson's Harbour and Volunteer House is a private road and must not be used without prior permission.

Please also note that no drone flying is permitted at anytime unless written permission is obtained in advance from Mrs Jan Cheek. Also anyone wanting to video for filming, TV and commercial use must pay £50.00 per day.
Any yachts wanting to visit must obtain permission before arrival and may only land at the north end of Volunteer Beach. No landings are permitted at Cow Bay or the end of Volunteer Point/Lagoon area.

Camping is not permitted at Volunteer Point at any time.

Please note that Volunteer Point is a total no smoking area.

Most visitors daytrip from Stanley but accommodation is available in the warden’s house at Volunteer Point
