The Green Seal Scheme is the Sustainable Certification Scheme for Falkland Islands tourism businesses that are Accommodation Providers, Food and Drink Establishments, and Local Tour Operators.
The Green Seal Scheme aims to help businesses to adopt and maintain eco-friendly and responsible business practices. Similar sustainable certification schemes are being widely adopted in the tourism industry today, driven by travelling consumers who are increasingly keen that their travel habits minimise any impact on the environment yet have a positive impact on the local communities they visit.
The Green Seal Scheme is a points-based system with three accreditation levels: Member, Silver and Gold. It assesses businesses in the following categories:
